44th District State House Election

Though we are concerned with all libertarian causes in the area, one of our main focuses this coming year is going to be getting our guy, Kurt Liston, into the State House as the 44th district representative. This should be an exciting experience for all who choose to become involved! We want to hit the ground running, with an all out attention Blitz!



The incumbent, Vernon Sykes (D), has been in office from 1983 through 2000 and then 2007 to present. The brief interruption in service was due to term limits, and during that period his wife took over, then he got back in again. You can find out more about him here.  He really has not faced much opposition in the last 26 years, and we doubt he even knows we are coming.  This is good for us, and good for the community, as things are rather stagnant at this level of politics.

As we said, we need to get our message out there!  We need to raise money too.  This is going to be good, not only for the 44th district, but for other people wanting to run as "third party" candidates in Ohio as well.  It is absolutely vital that we get our name out there.  People are naturally scared of what they do not know, but our platform is nothing to be scared of.  We are the only party that is truly fiscally conservative, far more so  than the Republicans,  but also civilly libertarian, far more so than the Democrats.  Regaining state and ultimately local control of our community and resources seems like something that we could all agree is a good thing, while not wasting those resources interfering in the lives of citizens.  Of course we are also the only truly anti-war party in the race.  The time has come and the time is NOW!  We have a broken system, which most people would also agree with, and we must have the courage to take a completely new approach.  This change must start at a local level.
