Lets see if we can get anyone to print it :)
The Libertarian Party is not a Far-Right Political Party.
There has been a lot of buzz in the media lately about the Tea Party movement. A lot of Americans have a perception that we, as a country, are heading in the wrong direction, and are understandably upset. There is a lot of anger out there. A lot of people are awakening to realities about the way our economy and money is structured, and the real threats to civil liberties. This did not start with the current administration, and has not ended with it either.
Libertarians have been reaching out to the activists in the Tea Party movement, as we reach out to all people. We have been working toward our goals for decades. We present an established, principled and independent-by-nature answer to the debacle the failed two party system has gotten us into. We are not, however, a far-right party. In fact, we are really in the center. We take the best and most constitutional aspects of both the right and the left; fiscal conservatism and absolute civil liberties for all citizens, and embody those principles. As far as we are concerned, you can be a liberal or conservative as you want with your own time and money and still be part of our party. We are here to advocate leaving individuals alone. We the people (the government) have no business in our neighbors wallets, religious institutions, or bedrooms.
We extend a warm welcome to all the politically homeless. We extend an outreached hand to all citizens, whether they consider themselves conservative or liberal. Come and hear what we have to say, ask questions, give us feedback. We do not have all the answers, nor does anyone else. We come biased only by the constitution and the principles laid therein. We are not beholden to the demagoguery of the political machinery of the two party system. We do have candidates in local, statewide and national elections.
Do some research online, there are many good resources. Don't take derogatory claims made about us in some media at face value. You may even know of some media figures who claim to be libertarians, but seem to espouse view that are anything but non-interventionist and respectful of individual rights. We trust that most people can see through these imposters. I think we are a lot more reasonable and centrist than the reputation that proceeds us, and we may have deserved that in the past. But, here in Northeast Ohio we are a pragmatic bunch, excited to do the work that needs to be done, and look forward to working together with people of all stripes. There is no time like the present to get involved.
Sincerely,
